Battling the Elements: Ducks Unlimited Tailgate at the Blue and White Game

pennstateducksunli

Penn State fans are no strangers to wild weather, but even we were caught off guard by the downright frigid conditions on the day of the Blue and White game. With over 40 mph winds whipping across the tailgating fields, it felt more like a winter game than a springtime celebration. But true to form, our Ducks Unlimited crew wasn’t deterred—we hunkered down, fired up the grill, and let our laughter and camaraderie keep us warm.

Adding to the excitement, we were honored to welcome two very special guests: Jeremy Mercer, the PA Ducks Unlimited regional director, and Haley Faith, our dedicated youth engagement coordinator. Their visit was a highlight of the day, bringing with them not only their enthusiasm for DU’s mission but also their warmth and energy, which truly lifted our spirits.

We also had the pleasure of presenting Haley with a special gift, thanks to our friends at Pura Vida. In addition to the bracelets and stickers they generously provided for everyone, they gifted us a beautiful piece of jewelry to present to Haley. It was a small token of our appreciation for all the hard work she does to inspire and engage the next generation of conservationists. Seeing the smile on her face as she received it was one of those moments that made braving the cold more than worth it.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this event unforgettable, despite the weather. And a big shoutout to Pura Vida for their continued support and generosity. Here’s to many more tailgates, where the warmth of our DU family outshines even the coldest of days. We Are… Penn State!
